2 min read

In this guide, we’ll walk through how to produce a video using the Local File option from the Share menu in Camtasia.

Opening the Project: #

First, open an existing project from your timeline. Once the project is open, we’ll explore how to use the Share menu to produce your video.

Selecting Local File: #

From the Share menu, select Local File. This will open the Production Wizard where you can choose your production settings.

Choosing Production Settings: #

You’ll see several options for producing your video, including standard and high-definition formats. The most common output is an MP4 file, which is widely used for uploading to video-sharing platforms.

If your video includes features like interactive hotspots, quizzes, or surveys, you will need to choose the Smart Player option. The Smart Player ensures that these features are preserved when sharing your video.

Naming and Organizing Your File: #

After selecting the video format, you’ll be prompted to name your file.

Camtasia also allows you to organize your production files into subfolders, keeping everything related to the project together in one location, or you can choose to save the MP4 directly without additional folders.

Additional Production Options: #

You can choose to Show Production Results during rendering, allowing you to see the progress as Camtasia produces your video.

There’s also an option to have the video play automatically after production. Choose whichever option works best for you.

Finalizing the Video: #

Once you’re ready, click Finish to start producing the video. Camtasia will begin rendering the video file.

When the video is complete, it will automatically play, and you’ll see all the production elements, including the folder where your final video is saved.

Accessing the Final Video: #

After production, you can open the folder containing your video and all related files.

If you want to use the same production settings in the future, you can save them as a production preset for quick access next time.

By using the Local File option in the Share menu, you can easily produce and export videos in a format suitable for sharing and editing.
