Capturing the Information on Your Screen in Camtasia

1 min read

To capture live action from your screen, you can choose to record with or without your webcam. Here’s how:

Step 1: Recording Without the Webcam
If you don’t need the webcam, you can toggle it off. This allows you to capture just the screen.

Step 2: Selecting the Screen to Capture
If you’re using multiple monitors, Camtasia allows you to choose which screen you want to record. Select the desired screen from the Record window. In the Capture Dimensions section, you’ll see the screen’s resolution (e.g., 1920×1080 pixels) along with a preview of what will be recorded.

Step 3: Starting the Recording
Once you’re ready, press the F9 hotkey to begin recording, or click the Record button. For this demo, we’ll click the Record button since we are using two versions of Camtasia on the same system.

Step 4: Recording and Stopping
During the recording, you’ll capture everything happening on the selected screen. When you’re finished, press the F10 hotkey to stop the recording.

Step 5: Viewing the Recording
After stopping the recording, the footage will automatically appear in the Clip Bin within the editing screen. If you recorded with the webcam, the clip will show both the screen and the webcam feed.

This process will capture all live action on the selected screen and integrate it directly into your editing timeline for easy access.

By following these steps, you can begin recording and editing with ease in Camtasia.
