Music for TikTok Ads
When TikTok’s CML works, when separately licensed royalty-free music makes sense, and what to check before you publish

A TikTok ad needs music that fits the creative and the rights situation. A sound that works in a casual post may create problems when a brand, product, service, client, or paid placement enters the picture.
This is where people get stuck. TikTok has its own Commercial Music Library, and brands can also use music they license from outside TikTok when the license covers the finished ad project.
Choose music based on the ad, not the post
A TikTok ad is commercial content. That changes the music decision.
Use TikTok’s Commercial Music Library when you are building the ad inside TikTok and want a track that TikTok provides for commercial use. The CML is a pre-cleared global music library for business content and ad creation.
Use a separately licensed royalty-free track when the music needs to live inside a larger campaign asset. This fits product launch videos, client ads, agency deliverables, vertical cuts, website versions, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels ads, and sales-page videos.
The key check is simple: the license should cover commercial video, social advertising, client work when relevant, and platform distribution. Keep the license receipt, track name, and project details with the campaign files.
Watch the difference between TikTok sounds and ad-safe music
TikTok’s general sound library and its commercial music options are different. Business Accounts do not have access to the general music library because those songs are not cleared for commercial use and are limited to personal entertainment use.
That matters for marketers and freelancers.
A creator might draft a fun organic TikTok with a trending song. A brand might then want to turn that same post into a paid ad. The music choice needs a second check before the ad goes live.
TikTok Promote has a similar trigger. TikTok’s advertising policy for Promote says you can promote videos that use original sound or sounds that can be used for commercial purposes.
Before turning a post into an ad, check the music source. If the sound came from a personal-use library, replace it with CML audio or a track licensed for the campaign.

Use royalty-free music when the ad needs to work beyond TikTok
TikTok’s CML works well for TikTok-native ads. A separate royalty-free license can make more sense when the same creative needs to move across formats and channels.
A freelancer might deliver one vertical product video to a client, then cut versions for TikTok Ads Manager, Instagram Reels ads, YouTube Shorts, and a website landing page. A brand might run the same music across a launch teaser, a retargeting ad, and a product demo.
Find the right TikTok ad track fast
Audiodrome tracks are grouped by the kind of TikTok ad you’re making, so you can start with the job the music needs to do and choose from there.
UGC & Creator-Style
For phone-shot ads, creator reads, founder clips, and customer-style stories, start here. These tracks sit under speech, keep the pace moving, and help the ad feel natural instead of overproduced.
Product Demo & Explainer
Use these tracks when the edit needs to show steps, features, screens, ingredients, tools, or before-and-after moments. The best fit is a clean beat that gives the ad structure without fighting the captions or voiceover.
Promo & Sale
These tracks are built for clear offers: limited-time deals, new bundles, seasonal pushes, retargeting clips, and direct-response ads. Choose music with quick movement, sharp cut points, and enough energy to make the scroll feel worth stopping.
Launch & Reveal
Start here for product drops, new collections, teaser edits, app launches, and brand reveals. These tracks give you a stronger opening, a sense of build, and a clean payoff when the product finally appears.
Lifestyle & Brand Story
Use these tracks for ads that sell the feeling around the product: morning routines, outfit edits, food shots, travel clips, studio work, behind-the-scenes footage, or small business stories. The music should make the ad feel polished, human, and easy to watch.
